C01. Hygiene and Safety Assurance
The Hygiene and Safety Assurance describes the competency in managing hygiene and safety of premises including of personal, tools, equipment, materials and work area.
The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to assess hygiene and safety management requirements, carry out hygiene and safety practices and ensuring the implementation of hygiene and safety practices at the premises.
C02. Massage Therapist Physical Fitness Practices
The Massage Therapist Physical Fitness Practices describes the competency in exercises to be practiced by masseur in maintaining therapist physical fitness. This exercise is a bodily activity that enhances or maintains physical stamina, fitness and overall health and wellness of therapist.
The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to determine exercise intensity, duration and tools requirements, carry out exercise movement activities, evaluation strength and stamina to achieve exercise objective, and exercise improvement to prevent injury.
C03. Massage Treatment Consultation
The Massage Treatment Consultation describes the competency in consulting client to obtain client’ health history prior to recommending the massage treatment. He/ She is able to design a systematic assessment and effective treatment management of the client .This CU covers obtaining health information , identifying
symptoms of illness/ abnormalities of client so that systematic treatment plan can be designed and recommended to client.
The person who is competent in massage treatment consultation shall be able to assess client requirement, carry out physical examination, create treatment plan and record client consultation.
C04. Musculoskeletal Treatment
This Musculoskeletal Treatment describes the competency in muscular and joint therapy to improve mobility; range of motions, strength and endurance of client and also to alleviate pain related to muscular and joints chronic conditions.
The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to assess client for muscular and joint treatment requirements, prepare work area and client for treatment, perform musculoskeletal treatment, evaluate musculoskeletal treatment services and provide after care advice.
C05. Neuromuscular Treatment
The Neuromuscular Treatment describes the competency in massage for Neuromuscular Therapy. He/she is the person that is competent of utilization the static pressure on specific myofascial (muscles, tendons and connective tissue) points to relieve pain. This technique manipulates the soft tissue of the body to balance the central nervous system.
The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to assess client for neuromuscular therapy requirement, prepare neuromuscular therapy work area, prepare client for neuromuscular therapy, perform neuromuscular therapy, evaluate neuromuscular therapy services, provide and aftercare service.
C06. Gynaecology Treatment
This Gynaecology treatment describes the competency in treating menstrual disorders including period pain and irregular menses to complement medical intervention via massage in order to reduce client’s body discomfort.
The person who is competent in massage for Gynaecology shall be able to assess client for massage of Gynaecology requirement, prepare work area and client for gynaecology treatment, perform gynaecology treatment, evaluate gynaecology treatment services and provide aftercare advice.
C07. Midwifery Care
The Midwifery care describes the competency in complement midwifery care to allow complete comprehensive care of the postpartum woman to regain her vitality and health via complementary and traditional methods. She is also expected to be able to handle issues and problems related to the postpartum and when to refer for tertiary help.
The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to assess client for suitable treatment plan, prepare work space for treatment, identify the tools needed, perform the midwifery.
C08. Infant Care Therapy
This Infant Care Therapy describes the competency in massage for caring the infant.
The person who is competent in massage for Infant Care shall be able to assess client for massage of Infant Care requirement, prepare infant care work area and care therapy, perform infant care therapy and provide aftercare advice.
C09. Specific Conditions Treatment
This Specific Conditions treatment describes the competency in specific condition treatment related to chronic medical illnesses disorder to complement medical interventionin helping to alleviate and improve quality of life. It involves disorders pertaining to the respiratory and digestive.
The person who is competent in specific condition treatment shall be able to assess client for specific condition treatment requirements, prepare specific condition treatment work area and client, perform specific condition treatment and provide
aftercare advice.
E01. Herbal Preparation
The Traditional herbs preparation CU describes the competency in the traditional herbal preparation for external use and healthy diet for recovery process. He/she is competent in preparing traditional medicine from herbs which include herbal ingredients, herbal preparations and finished herbal products, that contain as active ingredients parts of plants, or other plant materials, or combinations.
The person who is competent in this CU shall be able to assess traditional herbal preparation requirements, prepare traditional herbal work area, prepare traditional herbal, record traditional herbal preparation details.
E02. Business Administration
This Business Administration competency unit is to enable the personnel to administer business in operating a massage centre. The Massage Therapy personnel
is responsible of analysing company business, administering business administrative functions, evaluating business effectiveness and preparing evaluation report.

Entry Requirement
The pre-requisite for the enrolment of this course is as below:
i. Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Level 3 (SKM Level 3) and,
ii. Minimum of Twenty Four (24) months experiences in the Health and Wellness
Services/Complementary Therapy and,
iii. Be able to calculate, read and write in Bahasa Malaysia or English and
iv. Must be physically, emotionally and mentally fit
Candidates after being assessed and verified and fulfilled Malaysian Skill Certification requirements shall be awarded with Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia (SKM) for Level 1, 2 and 3 as for Level 4 and 5 shall be awarded Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia and Diploma Lanjutan Kemahiran Malaysia respectively. Massage Therapy personal should possess a certificate of practice from Practitioner Body of Malaysia certified by the Traditional and complementary Medicine Council (Ministry of Health Malaysia).
