Prerequisite

Occupational prerequisites for a certified sonographer include the following: 

• Be in good physical health; and 
• The minimum entry requirement to enrol in Medical Sonography Level 4 programme at an accredited Training Institute is a diploma in relevant allied health sciences (radiography, medical, nursing, medical laboratory technology and biomedical science).

Practitioners who have undergone specific field training at a recognised institution with minimum three years’ experience will be considered as certified specialty sonographer (example Obstetrics & Gynaecology Sonographer, Cardiac Sonographer.
